Re: High latency causing lag on gaming and general speed issues
As others have said try ethernet first, you have to eliminate everything you can first before talking to Sky. I have the same ping spikes on ethernet and wi-fi. I've tried this on seperate devices, PC and Laptop, same thing.
I've been super busy with work recently and haven't had time to contact Sky support.

Re: High latency causing lag on gaming and general speed issues
Quick update, I got in touched with sky support, they went through a line check, no issues found, they said the only thing they could do was upgrade my router which would mean me having to pay extra each month! They said not worth sending out the same router, I said "worth a try" as it's free, but they said not worth it. Said must go onto new tariff at which point I say no I would rather move supplier. Pretty disappointed in their willingness to help.
After I got off the phone I remembered I had a 2nd Sky Q Hub from back in December 2020, where none of the ethernet ports were working, both dead. I tried that via wifi and no pings above 20ms. So in my case it's fixed my ping spike issue but of course both ethernet ports are knackered. Out of both boxes I can make 1 working one... 🙂
Honestly I'd read reports that these Q hubs aren't that great but 2 failures in 5 months! I'll try and get a replacement without having to give Sky anymore money but I might just buy a 3rd party router, any suggestions?
