Re: Have a reminder function for programmes

@DianeDukeThe lack of a reminder is but one thing that make's Sky Q much worse than Sky+. For a start, there are so many extra buton presses needed to do even the simplest of things. Like deleting a recording. Sky+ press Yellow, even while watching it. Sky Q, don't seem able to delete while watching,, so back out, press right, press delete. Three times more presses. Doesn't sound like much, but when you do this for your 4 or 5 recordings a day, it adds up to a lot! (Years ago I had an argument with a computer programmer about unnecessary key presses. I worked out that one extra key press when entering invoices added up to an hour a week!)

I hate the fact it always starts off with a Home sctreen, which means you have to press Back to watch a programme. Why can;t it just go to the channel and I'll press the button if I need to.

On Sky+ when I watched a recording, I'd add a couple of  minutes to bypass the ads, but I can't see how to do this on Sky Q. I guess Sky are forcing us to see those ads, but most of us will simply FF through them anyway.

I find previewing the schedule is appalling now. Sky+ was clear and bold, and easy to browse channels. Sky Q is washed out and difficult to see, amking browsing a real pain.

The only advantage of having Sky Q is being able to record 3 programmes at once, which ironically we've not needed so far. Sure it looks prettier(?) but functionality wise it's light year behind Sky+, but that's modern tech' for you. Doesn't matter how poor it does the job so long as it looks modern and flashy.

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes

Just found out that there is no Reminder function on Sky Q. I find this very annoying as we used it regularly and would love to have this function available again. After having Sky Q for about a month now,we havent been impressed with it and im actually missing my Sky HD

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes

Also where is the Deleted section. As sometimes we delete by accident. Also noticed that Sky Q actually deletes recordings without even asking me. Happened the other day and missed two episodes because of automatically deleting

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes

Amazing the amount of people who post about the lack of reminder function. I have myself. As I have said before in my opinion one of the reasons sky encouraged recordings is that if it is recorded it can be included in viewing figures for ratings whether it is watched or not.

The rest of this is off topic but I want to show the kind of response I got when Sky actually answered a complaint.

Asked Sky why there are no subtitles on Premier showings of some Prime time shows. This means I cannot watch the program properly until it is eventually, if ever subtitled. Sky's response was they meet the minimum required by law. The first thing they say is, "that it is the channel operator that is responsible for providing subtitles not them." On their own channels they meet the laughably small requirements. One other response when asking why programs on Sky History & Sky History2 never have subtitles was "not enough people watch the channels." A comment echoed by one of the nice people commenting on theses forums who told me to stop complaining about lack of subtites because "not many people need them". Very caring and sharing!

Have been sending emails to various channels as to why they do not have subtitles on premiere showings of prime series. Various response from, no answer, notably Discovery, or it's to difficult." Must be hard to get a typed script turned into subtitles. If it's so difficult how do live tv programs get subtitles? Simple answer is not many people with hearing difficulties will give up their subscriptions. So not a priority that Sky see responding to.

I wonder what the responses would be if they broadcast a premier event on a prime show with no sound and just subtitles.

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes

this function is the most reliable way to watch a whole series as it is transmitted. Please bring it back.

@Robert95E...I think they must use  voice recognition software by now ..if not they ought to ..once installed what does it cost ?

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes

The reminder function was integral to my viewing, Sky did not mention the reminder function was not part of the Sky Q box, (talk about mis-selling). I will suffer this sky Q for as long as i have to then get rid of it. I am of the thinking that the comments made by me and other sky Q users on the demise of the reminder function will prompt sky to reinstate this any time soon. 😠

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes

My understanding is they will not bring back as it doesn't suit their product direction so we are stuck with it and you can't even go back to Sky HD+

Hi folks, I've taken the decision to close the comments as individuals have decided to repeatedly break the community rules and I think we reached the end of any valuable discussion a while ago. At the moment we have no plans to implement reminders but we'll periodically review this and you can still show support if you'd like to see the function by voting on the first post.

You really need to add a Reminder button facility now. Record function does not suit older people.

With Sky+ we had the facility to set a Reminder for programs we would like to watch later in the day. Now with SkyQ we cant do that. Its great that we can can record record multiple channels now but thats really not what older people want. just need to be reminded their favourate programme is about to start without having to record everything. Get the Reminder facility back up and running and SkyQ will be absolutley perfect.

Programme reminder

Add a programme reminder facility to Sky Q, as in all previous Sky products.

Re: Programme reminder

I've noted many of the advertisers on Sky and will email their PR departments this week, to let them know that almost all Sky Q viewers/customers are fast forwarding through the adverts they've paid Sky good money to air. You're welcome.
