Re: Have a reminder function for programmes
This feature was fantastic for me especially with live sport and football. I always used the reminder option along with the series link so that each match or event flashed up on screen just before it started. If I'm out that it's not a probably missing a match but if I'm home then I never forget they are on. It's ok to record however live sport is best watched live and not on replay (usually because you already know the result before you watch it) so it's not ideal and I personally don't want to have to record every sport, match or event just to set the series link.
please bring the reminder option back

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes
I have been looking for Program Reminder button. It makes it so much easier to go straight to program so you don’t miss it and want to watch it and not record it.

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes
Why on earth isn't this basic feature enabled? It surely can't take up that much space to set a reminder, it's just metadata, not actually storing the whole programme. Not having such a simple setting seems bizarre.
for live footy it's invaluable, after all who wants to watch recorded sport?

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes
@Billybob38 It's a joke really and complete shambles and an embarrassment from Sky. I like you do not believe for one minute it can't be done.
Sky - please wake up and do this simple update

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes
The more I read the replies from Sky 'customer relations' the more I'm bemused by their stance.
its such a simple bit of code to implement, in fact they'll already have most of the functions written as it's been part of Sky since the very early days of Sky Digital & Sky+. Why are they so focused on "you can record 7 programmes, so why do you need a reminder?"
I feel like grabbing them, shaking them and screaming "BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO WATCH RECORDED FOOTBALL!"
why pay £40 for live sport channels, to not watch it live???

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes
Well. There you have it.
Dear Mr Davies,
Thank you for your further email and for your patience.
As stated previously, Sky have no intention of adding a reminder service to the Sky Q software.
If you would like to take this matter further, you are welcome to contact Ofcom, the industry regulator.
Thanks again for taking the time to contact Sky and for sharing your views.
Kind Regards,
David
Viewer Relations
Sky do not care one jot as l on g as they've got your money. So it's a choice leave, put up with it, or contact Ofcom for discrimination.

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes
Ok, some good news. Cicas have agreed to help.
https://www.cedr.com/consumer/cisas/
I just need to complete an application form and the ball will start rolling as it were for an independent adjudication as to whether Sky are being discriminatory.
Wish me luck.

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes
@HLD1Good luck but I think Sky will get out of it. When asked why program descriptions do not match the content because programs were being described as having subtitles but did not when broadcast. The response was that they were not responsible for the content of programs being broadcast by companies renting their channels. Taking this further I asked if it was ok for one of their channel operators to describe a program as family friendly but when broadcast it actually contained graphic sex and violence they still said it's not our responsibiity. So if they can get away with that then leaving a feature which people find useful out is small by comparison.
Also lack of subtitles being a discrimination against people hard of hearing or completely deaf was dismissed as Sky as being up to the program makers to supply the subtitles.

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes
Don't bother with OFCOM. They are the Armed Protection Detail for the industry. I've complained about the BBC several times. Always the same standard letter replies. The fines they can impose (but rarely do) are pitiful in comparison to the BBC's income. It will be the same for Sky. I have found the service side of Sky to be very good over the years but the broadcast side is fixated on sales, predominantly to the young. This demographic wants to watch when it's convenient the programs it chooses. Hence the big sell on multiple recording capability. Older folk who want to watch live and be reminded when programs are about to start can go do one. They're losing their memories and marbles anyway, so won't be providing long term income. Forget them.
And that is how the young wiz-kids at Sky Central think.

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes
IT IS QUITE STUPID TO NOT HAVE THE( OPTION) FOR A PROGRAMME REMINDER ....YES I COULD RECORD THE NEWS EVERY DAY!!!
BUT A REMINDER THAT IT`S STARTING WOULD BE PREFERABLE EVERY TIME!!!!!

Re: Have a reminder function for programmes
How about going for mis-selling of a product ?
They sell this as an upgrade, but clearly it isn't. Surely if you're upgrading something you don't remove a needed function.
