@Chodley I thought @tarbat had posted some wireshark data showing a reduction in packets. But, strangely we some folks here who have had terrible network speeds and others who don't seem to be greatly impacted and that was pre q160. So, have any of those who were having poor network performance seen an improvement with q160 ?
Do you have a link to that post @CyberFriday ? I started wiresharking a few hours ago and I'm not seeing the sort of difference that I'd been expecting... There's been a fairly consistent average of around 15 SSDP packets per second and short peaks of 20-35/s.
I'll keep monitoring overnight and see if I get the old ramp up, but even 15/s is pretty excessive
...oh! and yes! I'm on Q160, before anyone asks 😉
@GNinga It looks like it was on the q160 trial, post 3270

Ha right! Thanks @CyberFriday ! I've not been keeping up too well with this monster thread - it's been going nuts 😂
I don't have minis, but my main box is certainly making up for it!

OK - an update on SSDP since yesterday... I'm getting similar to @tarbat now. Looks like it doesn't ramp up in the small hours of the morning, it just completely stops! Apart from the lack of ramp up, it looks very similar to Q150 results. Looks a bit like the "fix" has been to switch off SSDP processes at times when it would normally misbehave...
For anyone else who might be analysing, I've used 1 min interval rather than 1s because it displays the average better. Packets come in bursts, so that 1 second you might get 12 packets, but then nothing for 4/5 seconds which gives a misleading graph if shown per second...
Per Second to show burst behaviour
Per 1 minute extended scan to show extended gaps and better display average packet numbers

Yes this appears to be the case in this sitution if you look in to the granular detail of the fragmented picture, if taken in its entirety.

Hello @Kei+M
Do you have any information on QR16 rollout.?
I tried an update today but still get version 15. If anyone has news on this it will be helpful.

@Clarity3 @We've been told it's being rolled out now that usually takes around 3-4 weeks which fits with the earlier none speculative posts that it would be a matter of weeks which took us to early mid July which still looks feasible. The only not usual thing so far is the rollout post those who signed up for the trail is those receiving it still seems to be getting the trial version with the trial app in the app button. It's seems unusual that it wouldn't be removed but to skys defence that means it can be pushed quicker as any changes even a minor removal would have to be trialed to presumably.

@Clarity3 It started rolling out last week so if Sky follow their normal pattern for rollouts it maytake another 2 to 3 weeks for everyone to have ithe update

I think my box was updated with Sky Q160 again, I was part of the beta test group but now the 'Trials app and all the Gonzo information is gone, Q160 is still the same version number as before just without the logging info and the trials app. Also this time I really thought the picture looked much better too, but thats probably just a placebo effect.

Oh yeah I've just looked again and the trail stuff has now gone from mine to. The software version ID doesn't seem to have changed so it's likely just been hidden again rather than removed / updated.

Why does it take 3-4 weeks to rollout. All the hardware is the same for the V3 boxes so it either works or it doesn't surely? Yes everyone has different TVs but if everyone involved would follow the certified standard rather than adding there 'own features' maybe things would be simpler!

Apart from anything else it's an extra step to limit the amount of boxes failing should something of slipped through and to stop the possibility of hundreds of thousands of people calling sky up say hey my box looks different is it faulty? Admitidly that's unlikely on this occasion it does happen I used to be called out to atleast 3-4 complaining customer in cable installations because the customer didn't want cable being put through their lawn/garden and wall I mean the clue was in the name Cable TV for fridays sake. 🤦♂️

It's rolling out to all 5 variants of the Q box, not just the 1TB & 2TB V3 boxes.
Sky have always carried out staged firmware updates (since the Sky+ days) - it's to ensure their support processes can cope in case a batch fails, or a problem is detected which wasn't observed in testing. Eg compatibility with a particular ISP or their hardware. On more than one occasion updates of Sky+HD and Q have been paused for a week while they investigate.

We were one of the folks who had the Q160 trial applied to our mini but not our main box for some reason.
Pleased to report that Q160 finally landed on our main box last night so hopefully no more sound/frame drops on both boxes. 🤞

I received the 160 update last night in Essex. Hoping for some stability with this release!
