Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

The reports of Q16 appear hopeful,🤞one or two issues seem to be starting? Hopefully they can be ironed out and 2 or 3 days after change the drop outs don't return .( often seems to be the case)I'm still on Q15 just main box to TV been loads of sound drops tonight.

@Rob1999

I've had no issues of any kind with 160 so far.
audio dropouts, so far, have gone. I've never had pixel issues.
But then i don't run the mini boxes and hard wire to a BT router.

I totally get what you're saying. I was so confused with hdmi/optical, but as soon as I got the NR1711 it made total sense, q box, blu ray into the amp and then hdmi arc into the tv. So simple and tidy and fabulous soundstage

I'm hard wired to the router also, so 🤞

I may be dreaming here.
I may be punch-drunk by no audio dropouts.
But I'm sure the overall sound is better as well.
Anyone sharing my euphoria? Is it a delusion? Will I sober up tomorrow?

I'm, just a tad excited by this. Could I finally getting the kind of sound worthy of my subscription after all this time??? 🙈🙈🙈

Hang in there.
The cavalry is coming.
At least now, after a long wait, you know the cavalry really IS coming.

@Perfectionist+dur yes finally. I am just amazed really with the price of the packages that Sky allowed this to go on for as long as they have. Give it to you guys, though for testing it for everyone. You're all doing a top job.

@Rhonny

As I said, I was using optical connection only for the sound direct from Q to amp which kept the issue at bay. (For me anyway) So yes I've had to select normal now on the optical setting.
But no old optical anymore! And of course better sound and functionality with hdmi!
Still no drops at the moment! I will give credit where it's due if this issue stays resolved. 🤞🏻

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

I'm being cautious here, so I'll only declare this as 'early days', but since Q16, I've had no dropouts on the audio.

I have than main Sky Q box (v3) hardwired to BT internet and I'm using HDMI via my Onkyo AVR to my TV. The box is set to Dolby Digital Plus and 10-bit 4k. I am running a mini box (set to 1080p). We've watched live TV, recordings and used the apps and it seems to be holding out... But let's see how we get on over the weekend.

As for whether it sounds better, as some have observed, I also thought so... but that could be euphoria over the uninterrupted audio experience!

Will comment further after the weekend, but feeling optimistic at this point.

Only have Q160 on the mini, main box still on Q150 for some reason, but haven't noticed any sound drops on the mini so far. 🤞

My apologies if someone has answered this and I missed it, but has anyone with the Q160 update tried viewing the Mandalorian on Disney+? It has dropouts all over the shop when I watch it. So, I wonder if that is due to the content or Sky's sound drop out issue.

I'm testing on Wireshark at the moment, but early signs look like the SSDP flooding problem is fixed. Just the 125 packets per minute from the main Sky Q box and 60 packets per minute from each minibox.

So I've not observed any escalation of SSDP packets, just the steady state, although overnight behaviour looks different, but I'll see how that looks tonight.  I've set all 3 miniboxes back to ECO power mode, and the main Sky Q box is on ACTIVE power mode.
