Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Have spent several hours watching "Temple" this evening.
Full Dolby Atmos and UHD.

Again, not a single audio dropout and really REALLY good full Atmos from my Yamaha to all 7.1 speakers.
Loving it.
Honestly, to all those who are waiting for the Q160 update, on the results so far, it's going to be good. I've said it before but the Cavalry is coming.

@David+78  If you can, use iplayer / itv player

@ChodleyI was thinking more of iPlayer and the effect on any given ISP's backhaul with lots of people trying to watch online at once tbh, but satelite can be effected by atmospherical conditions. High heat conditions can cause issues with the LNB, more so if its old as electronics likes to be cool, hence the feedhorn is generally white, but it can still cause a frequency drift in direct sunlight I belive if they get hot enough, as well as well as changes in the troposphere and ionosphere. which can effect the signal too.

Damned if you do, damned if you dont

Looks promising so far on Q160 guys...

Just be wise over the next few days though, as there are heavy Thunderstorms forecast across the UK.
This can cause all sorts of intermittent 'atmospheric' problems with satellite and Sky dishes etc, from direct customer line of site but also Sky, Astra and other maybe uplink sites.
Just be mindful that any of us could get some blips over the next few days.
Hopefully not 🙂

Sky Q is so glitchy

Did all  the reboot etc and still not good

BBC channels very bad

Thought the Issue was sorted with the Q16 rollout but alas I was wrong

Really  is unacceptable considering the cost

Never  had this issue with the old sky + boxes

Sort it out a sky . The picture is the basic function to get right .. don't need all these fancy add on's etc

system not fit for purpose

@Paulmhayes

What exactly do you mean by 'glitchy'? Are you talking about sound issues or picture issues?

Q160 has been rock solid for me in nearly two weeks of testing. No sound or picture issues on any channel, recording or download.

If you are experiencing picture issues it may be related to bad cabling or a misaligned dish. Have you contacted Sky and attempted to get them to look at it?

@fizzdisco

Picture is the issue

checked all cables ( numerous times )

dish showing strong signal so no issue there

couple of friends who have sky have same issue .. seems to be common problem

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@Paulmhayes

Have Sky checked the cables between the dish and the box though? The signal strength indicator on the Q box is not accurate and even a small mis-aligment can cause picture issues. It might be worth getting the box swapped too in case it's hardware related.

Wait and see if Q160 does anything to fix things for you but it sounds like a different issue from the audio drop-out problem that most of us have been affected by on here.

Unfortunately the Signal Condition display is misleading on SKY Q as it does not show the signal for the current channel - just a single transponder that is set in an engineer's menu

Thus you may be getting an OK signal for the channels on that transponder but if it is slightly out of alignment many others could be suspect. (I think there are around 60+ different transponders in use)

@Paulmhayes Ok well that's a completely different topic. Recommend you start a new thread and/or call Sky because I have no picture issues at all and this thread is about the sound dropouts specific to all v3 boxes.

I think the "common problem" is more likely dish out of alignment
