Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

So we're onto page 100 of this thread now, after the previous one reached page 160+ I think it was before being shut down, and still no fix...

Not even a 'please bear with us' or any other form of update from Sky. Their silence is deafening.

Utterly inept.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@fizzdisco A fix is incredibly slow in the works. I spoke to their Technical Dept yesterday and the person I spoke to was unaware of the problem!! They did dig deeper and found all the information about it and noticed that the status of the issue had been udpated that day saying words to the effect 'they are aware of the issue and working on a fix, but with no confirmed date for resolution'. Pretty much the same as they've been saying for the last gawd knows long. That message gives no clue as to if they are any closer to a fix. They also told me the short-term 'fix' is the one we all know doesn't work and that is to set sound to 'none' rather than any of the Dolby options. I did explain, as we all have, that it may reduce the frequency but it doesn't solve the problem.

Whilst I do get sound dropouts I don't think I'm as badly afflicted as some on here and have decided to accept it in the hope a fix will eventually arrive. Call me bonkers, but even with this on-going issue, I did re-contract this week on a much reduced package taking off multi-room, sports and cinema.

Wow. Just wow. Inept is truly the word.

I'm honestly beginning to think that they're not going to bother with a fix, they'll just bring out a V4 box and expect us to pay some kind of upgrade fee.

I get the same thing!

That's what happens when you convince them you needed Sky in your life 😉

Just out of interest, has anybody counted the number of unique posters? 100 pages of the same people posting again and again? Note I have this problem as well.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

@MightyQuinn
good question - kind of.
people come and go on this thread. Some wear out their patience and quit. Some can't stand the frustration any more.
Then new people join the thread as they get Sky Q installed, realise the problem, Google it to see if there are others who share the issue, then end up here - half relieved that they're not alone, half amazed that that problem has existed for so long.

This thread is already over 100 pages. I'm told the previous thread was restarted (to this one) after it got to 160 pages. I've also been told that it wasn't the first thread on this subject either.

I think where your question was heading is: are there really 1,000's out there with this problem or is it a few dozen who make a lot of noise? The answer is the former, not the latter. Sadly.

Re: HDR v3 box not fit for purpose (sound cutting out)

Bloody hell we had a Sky Q box installed on 13th Oct last year and I immediately noticed audio dropouts on streamed and downloaded programs. Couldn't face ringing up to complain as we'd spent about 6 hours on the phone negotiating a discounted sub. Finally got round to googling the problem and astonished to find several closed threads and this one too. I remember having a similar problem with a Sky box many years ago, possibly even in the analogue days with an Amstrad box! Never expected it to be happening with the Q box.

Hi @Perfectionist+dur

it's just my personal opinion but 100 pages is ridiculous, nobody is going to read 100 pages and only 10 pages are shown on the discussion titles so the depth of the problem is hidden. Now if the pages shown on the discussion title displayed the pages as 1 ... 99  100  101 it would make more sense.

Hi @Perfectionist+dur   I'm not talking about access, but what is displayed on the home page. Just one thread among many. https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/bd-p/skyq

@MightyQuinn The difference is that the last big thread on this was 160+ pages was over 2 years. This thread is now up to 100 pages in just 3 months. And how many people actually have this issue ? We will never know. The unique number of contributors on this thread won't be the totality of impacted users. And, It would be useful if sky actually gave a count of the unique number of contributors on each thread. I'm sure we have all got better things to do with our time than to count them. And I believe the issues on this thread are down to a fundamental design decision which is why a solution has not been forthcoming in the last 2+ years folks have been posting about it.
