Fibre to the Property

Hi,

I am having sky ultrafast 1 fibre to the property installed and have a question regarding the placement of the openreach box on the inside of the property.

On the openreach website it says the box should be located near a plug socket. However the ideal placement position will require the box to be powered via a plug socket extension lead (normal household power extension lead, 2metres 4 plug sockets).

Has anyone got experience of asking openreach to put the box in a location like this (i.e. not near a wall socket but using an extension lead to power instead) and was it ok?

thanks.

@LHailes

Our ONT went on an extension lead without our installers quibbling: I guess it's possible another team might take a different approach.

Worth remembering that it's the Hub location which is much more significant, for both phone handset access and decent WiFi in the rest of the property.  The ONT just sits there quietly doing its thing, and doesn't really care where it is as long as there's power from somewhere and the fibre pigtail can plug in.

Re: Fibre to the Property

Can't see a reason why not. I'll be doing the same.
