Ethernet connection

I have read some of the replies on previous posts but can't find anything quite specific enough. I have a newly built garden building and want to move one of my Sky Q mini boxes there for a new TV. The building is too far away from the house to get a WiFi connection or for the Mini to connect to the main box. I spoke to an advisor on Sky and he suggested hard wiring. I didn't ask more as I thought this would be too difficult. But, it is possible to obtain 100 yard ethernet cables. It's a pain but it's physically possible. So, my question is fairly simple. If I plug one end of the ethernet into the main box and the other into the mini will this work? I should point out that my garden building is on a separate electrical system to the rest of the house, with a new dedicated fuse box, so I can't use the power line system.

@AidanM    Is the consumer unit feeding the main house beside the consumer unit feeding the garden building?

@AidanMThe maximum recommended length for Ethernet is 100m and should work between the main and mini box. Make sure you buy cable suitable for external use and ideally use conduit or similar to protect the cables. It is available in 100M rolls with either fitted plugs or bare cable for you to fit the plugs.

Although your mains circuits are not connected there is an expensive option, if you use Devolo Magic 2 powerline adapters and a Devolo DINrail adapter that fits at your fuse box the adapters will work across  different mains circuits.

Thanks. I have found a roll of cable that is, apparently, designed for outdoor use. It will piggy back the power cable that runs from house to outdoor building but I will look for some trunking for additional protection. It is useful to know that connecting the two boxes will work. One further question, if you don't mind, will the mini box still work independently of the main box?

@AidanMThe mini box will work exactly the same as it does now.

It will also continue to work as a hot spot if needed.
