DVD not playing on Sky Q

I have a Sony TV and a separate Sony DVD........had sky Q installed last year and not used DVD since...today have gone to use and DVD player switches on can load DVD but not coming through to TV .....have checked and the HDMI cable is plugged into the side of TV and back of DVD...what can I do...... BTW I am 72 years old and not very tech minded so very simple answers please, can supply photos of back of TV and DVD player of that would help ...thanks ......have looked at some of the previous answers to this similar problem. But don't understand them

Have you changed the input HDMI?  DVD won't run via the Sky box.  If separate HDMI you will need to change via the TV settings.

Hi, thanks for that, but can you tell me what I would change it to please and can I do it from my remote or do I have to go into settings on TV....sorry if I am asking silly questions....I did try to change on the remote but wouldn't move from HDMI 1 ......thank you x

You'd typically use the television remote control to change inputs: a Sky remote often can't do that even if paired with the TV.

@Simpin49   You will need to go into the TV settings which you should be able to do on your remote. (TV remote not the Sky one).   Change it from HDMI 1 to whichever numbered slot the DVD is plugged into.

I don't even know where my TV remote is I only ever use the Sky Q remote

hi @Simpin49 try pressing the 'TV source' button on the SKY  remote (the one that looks like a slightly rounded rectangle with an arrow pointing into it from the Left) .

Then press again ( more than once if needed) - whilst the TV is displaying info of the input selected  -  to try to select each of the different inputs on your TV

@Simpin49   That is going to be a problem then.  Your only option it appears, but only as a stop gap because HDMI don't like to be continually disconnected and swapped around (they need to be a tight fit), is to swap the leads around.  This will only work if you have the DVD remote and isn't recommended as a regular option.

Thank you yes I do have DVD remote, and will have a hunt for the TV remote!!! Put it down to old age!!!
