Re: Changes to the Sky TV guide - December 2020

@rscott  What's  a freeze got to do with Sky removing these channels for financial reason?

stop posting nonsense you know nothing about you're copying and pasting the same nonsense others have posted. These channels have been removed from Sky EPG only for financial reasons, they are available from other broadcasting platforms and can be manually added to Sky other channels

@Gedge808 Just one question, if Sky had "culled" these channels because they weren't making money from them, wouldn't they have been "culled" in the UK too, or are they somehow making money in the UK but not in Ireland?

(Disregarding the fact that Sky only make money by selling them the slot on the EPG, thus losing that money if they are removed )

As for the argument that they are still available on other platforms in Ireland, let's see if that's still the case on Jan 1st.

@oj01  You do realise Sky Ireland and Sky Uk are different. Different channels and different advertising

You do realise that Sky only sell slots on their programme guide to these channels, so it's in their interests to have as many as possible on there?

Re: Changes to the Sky TV guide - December 2020

@rscott  You just answered the question originally asked, Sky are selling slots these companies were not profitable for sky so gone end of. Sky are not a charity they are there to make profit by selling slots on their EPG. In the early days of Sky lots of these free to air channels would have been added for free  or for a small fee that's not the case anymore

Sky Ireland and UK are concentrating too much on downloading [removed]. everything is download now and costs a fortune . Not everyone is into that I'm certainly not I like a bit of live TV as well.

You can find Sky's documented policies for allocating EPG slots here - https://www.skygroup.sky/regulatory .

As you say, Sky are a business and want to sell as many slots as possible to maximise their revenue. So how does removing channels from the guide and not replacing them with anything increase their revenue?

It's not as if this hadn't been mentioned before - Sky wrote to broadcasters 2 years ago reminding them that they will need an EU licence to broadcast in Ireland unless a specific deal to cover broadcasts was agreed https://www.theguardian.com/media/2018/oct/18/sky-warns-disney-and-discovery-of-no-deal-brexit-black...

Re: Sky Ireland: Radio and Music channels disappeared?

Hi guy. They have been taken off in ireland. But u can manually put them.  I've nearly all of them and a heap of other old freeview channels, magic, box, kiss. Go to settings , manual tuning , use you're own pin for you're tv, screen down to add channels . And enter the codes u need for the channel. They are all free and available on this website. www.ekayi.com.

Hope it helps. I loved them channels . They are not going  to be on you're epg , but look better u  can still get them.

Re: Sky Ireland: Radio and Music channels disappeared?

@Johnger78 it's not that easy if you're using the sky Q box . you have to go in every time each time.at least  on your old box you can just press the backup button and it took you into it straight away

Hey all, the channels have decided to close in ROI, as they won’t be licenced for the territory post-Brexit in January 2021.
