Hi Nolte
Perhaps as I am not informed on the mechanisms involved, but as Quinnmaster pointed out there was no communication whatsoever from Sky on this , I thought it was a fault on my TV.
It definitely reduces the quality of my package and has me looking for alternatives

Because none of the channels are owned by Sky and thus NOT sky's responsibility to inform you, this would be the resposibility of the channels themselves to inform THEIR viewer<s>!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Bocht Sky did announce it, on here, like they do whenever there is a change.
I'm only guessing, but what I suspect happened here is that Sky set a deadline for the channels to get the license and on that deadline any channel that didn't have it was removed. Therefore there wasn't as much of an advanced notice to customers as there normally is.

How many people are going to be checking these forums, basically no-one.
No the problem is Sky just don't care.
They don't care about losing customers.
They don't care about their existing customers.
I unfortunately had to get Sky Q last year I say unfortunately because I believe Sky may have messed with the LNB making it more awkward to change to free to air. I got it installed last March so if I want to change to free to air do I need a different LNB? Would it be costly to get some engineer to change the LNB to a free to air lnb.
I'm in Ireland so I don't have Freesat available as an option as far as I know.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreFreesat coverage extends over Eire: satellite signal isn't good at recognising borders. Whether Freesat hardware is available and legal to use is a different issue. Most Freesat boxes cannot receive a signal through the standard Q LNB: apparently the new generation of Arris UHD Freesat can do so.

I've had Sky since 1992 and can never once remember getting a letter or other communication about channel closures. It's not something they have ever done. Minor channels come and go on a weekly basis so the amount of letters or emails Sky would need to send would be ridiculous.
It is a shame Ireland has lost some music/radio channels, but they were all free channels not included in your Sky subscription and anyone paying for Sky just to access music or radio channels that have been removed has been wasting money as they were all free channels available without any subscription.

Hi. Just seen all most music channels gone. I loved my 80s and 90s
has there been a reduction in rates for this loss?
Thanks

There is nothing to reduce!!!!!
The explanation has been given many times in this thread, I suggest you go back and read them.

Hi ,
The music channels where a big part of part of why I loved sky TV. Now there gone can you tell me if they will be reinstated or am I due a price reduction in subscription fees??

If you read through the thread, you'll see it was the music channels themselves that withdrew from the Sky platform. It will be up to the channels, not Sky, as to whether or not they want to return. I would think it unlikely.
No, you're not due a price reduction, I'm afraid. These channels were free to air, not part of your subscription cost.

Are you sure some of you are not Sky employees?
