Re: Cannot watch Kerrang

The Red Bee issue has caused severe disruption to Channel 4's operations and the main priority is keeping the flagship channels (Channel 4, E4, More4, Film4) on air, along with restoring subtitles. Some progress was made on subtitles yesterday but the fact it is taking so long to restore a vital service demonstrates the severity of the problem.

The music channels will all come back but are a much lower priority. Even 4Music with its valuable Freeview slot is unable to broadcast at this time.

Re: Cannot watch Kerrang

Theoretically, I think 4Music should be able to come back on air as each server plays out two channels, so it may have been able to come back on air along with Box Hits last week...

But I think another issue is the working Box Plus channels (The Box, Box Hits and Kiss) aren't currently showing any adverts, so would cause a lot of disruption with the 4Music schedule as they woud either have to do a whole reschedule, or spend time inserting music blocks between the end and start of programmes, something which isn't as pressing for the full time music channels.

Re: Cannot watch Kerrang

So a few weeks now a fire alarm was activated and I've subjected to utter drivel that is The Box instead of Kerrang! For far too long.

I'm sorry but I pay for a service and Sky are not fulfilling that. They promise me every month n amount of music channels and right now they are not fulfilling that.

On the other hand, they have removed mtv Rock (I know I know) and I have a Christmas channel instead. Really?

Pretty fed up there are few decent music channels left.

Beyond Sky's control, but you could take it up with Red Bee.

Re: Cannot watch Kerrang

@RockerGaz Sky don't own or broadcast any music channels, it is up to the channels what they show. MTV decided to close down MTV Rocks on all platforms, Trace have decided to carry on the yearly tradition of having the earliest christmas channel. Box Plus can't help that Red Bee experienced issues that require new parts, specific parts that are difficult to get hold of right now... not impossible, but difficult.

And only the MTV channels are ones that you pay for. Box Plus, Trace, All Around the World (NOW/Clubland) and Keep It Country broadcast their channels free-to-air, you'd still recieve them on a Sky box without a subscription.

Re: Cannot watch Kerrang

I understand what you are saying however my contract is with Sky. Not those companies. Sky advertised that they would provide me with a service in terms of a certain number and breadth of music channels and they are not providing it. Breach of contract as far as I am concerned.

No they re not in breach of contract, it clearly states in your T & C's that channel line ups may change.

@RockerGaz your Q box happens to receive the music channels like Kerrang you dont pay anything to Sky for them as they are free-to-air.

The issue is they sell advertising to cover the costs but with low viewing figures the economics are pretty knife-edge so  suspect they buy the cheapest service they can from Red Bee hence the last to be fixed.

Did they? Where in your contract does Sky commit to that?

Kerrang (and all the non-MTV music channels) are free channels available to anyone with a satellite receiver. You don't pay Sky for them and they're not part of any Sky package. You can cancel Sky and still watch them.

The only music channels you're paying for on Sky are the MTV channels:

Re: kerrang' magic and box hits missing from music channels

Does anyone else with this issue know when this is likely to be resolved?

@cyu

The only people likely to know are working for the channels concerned, and they have remained remarkably uninformative.

Let's say Channel 4 was broadcasting your favorite program and decided to to stop broadcasting it after the 5th epiosde. Yes you may be upset at that, but there would be nothing Sky could do as it's not a Sky channel.

Re: kerrang' magic and box hits missing from music channels

Have to agree, they all kept rather quiet and uninformative when their channels went off air anyways with just a message saying technical difficulties will return to programs as soon as possible and left it like that for hours.

Then when they finally came back on air there was absolutly no information as to why. Yep so much for channels letting us know what had happened and why they went off air. Was for me 2 weeks before finding out and only because of this forum post when i decided to check why some channels were broadcasting the same stuff as another channel.

Re: Cannot watch Kerrang

As a customer PAYING for Sky TV I think I, and other customers, would be a better judge of which channels to 'prioritize' when it comes to getting them back on air.  There are numerous channels playing the same old pap, but only Kerrang playing rock & indie music - hence the only one worth watching!!  All of the others are churning out the same old boy/girl band rubbish plus rap and Christ knows what other utter crap...plus, oh joy in October!!!, we have 24 hr a day Christmas music already!!!!!

Sort out the only decent music channel you have!!!!!
