Can't watch catch-up or on demand content - tried everything, including calling Sky

I know others have posted similar issues here, but none of those seem to be resolved. So I was wondering if anybody has actually had this fixed or whether they're still waiting. 

 

Situation: Sky TV newly installed yday; full package, including UHD and Sky Signature with Box Sets. Neither On Demand nor Catch-Up services are working, saying I need to upgrade. 

 

I have - downloaded the newest software, performed reboot of Sky Q box and Wi-Fi router, changed the download settings and called Sky (twice). Nothing has worked. When I spoke to Sky last, they reset my viewing card and said it'd take 4 hours for the services to work. They said on the off chance that it didn't work, it'd be this 'known issue' they're working hard to fix, but they didn't give a timeline other than 'it'll likely be within the week'..

 

My question is, has anybody actually had this issue resolved for them? If so, what happened? Was it an issue on the Sky side of things and they just needed to do a software fix?

 

Pretty crummy that a main function of their package isn't working from day one, and I'm a little bit suspicious of 'likely be a week' comment from the Sky customer service team (not having a go at them specifically, I appreciate it's out of their hands). 

 

Any advice would be massively appreciated. Thanks

I've nothing to offer other than my sympathy. Sky are often hopeless when it comes to fixing things like this. Fundamental flaws in their system are not seen as urgent. 

At the very least they should be crediting your new account for the inability to provide their basic level service. 

If it continues much longer just tell them you want to cancel the whole thing. That might (but probably won't) stir them into action.

I have the exact same problem after having my Sky Q installed yesterday - they couldn't even tell me whether it would be days, weeks or months for this to be fixed! I'm currently looking up the cancellation period for new customers.......

I posted the other day that I had the same problem but I have managed to fix mine so might be able to help you?

 

Apparently Sky Q only works on 2.4ghz. I have BT internet and the smart set up was turned on so was connected to Sky Q on 5ghz so whilst I could watch everything, I couldnt download - this might be the same problem for you. I'm not sure how to change this on other broadbands but for BT you just need to google how to turn off the smart set up, once you've turned that off, unplug your router and your sky box - plug back in and wait for it to all connect again and then try to download. This worked for me first time 🙂
