Hi
I know there is a restriction of Main box and 2 miniboxes at the same time - however, I have asked the sales guy if I can watch 3 mini boxes with the main box OFF. He has said yes.
I have noted to them that all online text say 2 mini boxes with the main box. He said as long as the main box is on standby/off, then the other 3 mini boxes will work.
Can anyone please confirm?
Thanks
Chi

Thanks everyone. Seems like it's something I can tell them off for. Asked him to double check many times and he said his supervisor was 100% positive too. Have it recorded although doubt it makes any difference, maybe get a goodwill gesture.

@Chi-HoUnfortunately he is wrong 2 mini boxes simultaneously is the max.
If the main box is fully off nothing will work.

Re: Can I watch 3 Mini Boxes at the same time if the Main Box (2TB) is off?
If you're watching Netflix on a mini, then turn on the other two minis to watch live TV or recordings, then you can watch all three minis at once. But you can't watch live TV or recordings on all three at once, or start watching Netflix on the third if the other two are already watching something.

Yes definitely wrong @Chi-Ho , I've just tried it to verify and sure enough the third mini box will not work. You are told to turn off a mini and press red to view on the last box you tried

Re: Can I watch 3 Mini Boxes at the same time if the Main Box (2TB) is off?
Thanks @Craig - looks like your setup is exactly the same as mine will bewith a Sky Q 2Tb + 3 minis.
Currently, I have 2 Sky+ boxes, with 2 magic eye extensions over coax - 1 running off each Sky+ box. Bedroom Sky+ box linked to Kitchen, and Living Room Sky+ box linked to Home Office. So, we currently can only watch 2 channels, but on up to 4 TVs. This works because we don't normally use the Bedroom and Kitchen TV at the same time (for different channels).
The new Sky Q box will be in the living room, with the minis in Kitchen, Main Bedroom, Home Office. We don't actually watch TV in the living room that much, mainly in the Kitchen, and me in the Office with it on in the background. So specifically wanted to know if we could watch the 3 minis - and it seems they either lied, or just did not know.
Thinking about it, I think having the abilty to watch 3 separate channels on 3 TVs, albeit one of those being the Living Room is better than the limitation that we have now. It may "force" us to use the Living Room more as well. The added bonus of the mini being in HD instead of the current coax extension is welcome.
Thanks again

Connect up to 4 Sky Q Mini boxes and watch on two TVs at the same time with a 1TB box, or three TVs at the same time with a 2TB box. All Sky Q Mini boxes are loaned to you by Sky

Yes, but that always includes the main box.

Re: Can I watch 3 Mini Boxes at the same time if the Main Box (2TB) is off?
I tend to agree, but that's the way it has always been. The 'small print' at https://www.sky.com/shop/tv/sky-q/ says
Watch on 2 Sky Q Minis simultaneously with a Sky Q 2TB box and on one Sky Q Mini with a Sky Q 1TB box
which is more accurate, but doesn't take account of the new 1TB UHD/HDR box.

Re: Can I watch 3 Mini Boxes at the same time if the Main Box (2TB) is off?
was looking into getting Sky Q but in all honesty it doesn't do anymore for me than my current set up of the HD +box with 3 multiroom boxes.
At least at the moment we can all watch what we want on all 4 boxes at the same time.
Seems a huge step back if I went with Sky Q
