Broadband hub sr203v4.2 wifi issues

Hi.

ive only had sky broadband active since 26th but since then I have already been noticing wifi connectivity issues.

even though signal seems good between the devices in house and the router, every now and then the device seems to loose connection with it? Even though it shows a signal, and a quick disconnect and reconnect of the wifi on the device seems to fix it. Does it in various locations around the house. It's strange because it's not like the signal strength drops or is low. It's as if the wifi is still connected but no internet flows through it, even though the internet is connected to the router still, and then a quick disable of wifi on the device and reconnect that takes literally seconds, seems to fix it. It not isolated to a single device. It's multiple devices and device types also.

i was on plusnet with a bt smart hub 2.0 before and never had any issues with the wifi, but since using the new sr203v4.2 , it's unreliable.

@SytherukIf you are having Wi-Fi problems and have boost you can ask Sky for a booster to help with your Wi-Fi signal throughout your property.

Did you reset/reboot the router 15 hours ago or does that coincide with wifi/broadband outage

Re: Broadband hub sr203v4.2 wifi issues

No. I rebooted the router manually then.

like I said, the wifi saying full signal but having no internet through it untill the wifi on the device is disconnected / then reconnected is not down to the physical connection of the broadband to the router. Ie every time I get the issue with the wifi, it's not becuase the broadband line has dropped / disconnected etc

Re: Broadband hub sr203v4.2 wifi issues

Becuase I'm still having the wifi issues even though the broadbands connected to the router. As you can see the broadbands been active 15 hours but I've been having the wifi issues while the broadbands been active etc, not caused by a line drop or anything

Re: Broadband hub sr203v4.2 wifi issues

I have noticed there are others near by with sky broadband. Could it be wifi congestion? Wouldn't the router automatically assign the Chanel's with the least congestion on them?

That would affect 2.4ghz devices more than 5ghz but is a prime suspect

I seperate wifi bands so i know what band they are using

- Log onto router and go to wifi
- Go to 5ghz band and untick synchronise 2.4ghz and 5ghz
- Go to 5ghz ssid and add -5g at the end
- Save
- Go to individual devices and assign wifi band accordingly

And i use Analiti app to see what other ssids are on the same channels and change my 2.4 channels accordingly or just let them use 5ghz

Re: Broadband hub sr203v4.2 wifi issues

@cookiemonsteruk cheers.

ill give that a try and I'll download that app and have a snoop at the local wifi congestion see what's going on.

i wonder if the devices having issues are connected to the 5ghz band and then having issues when at certain distance from the router but like I said, my phones one that had issues and you don't notice a wifi signal speed drop, phone still shows full signal.l but no internet coming through untill disconnect/reconnect to wifi. My phones iPhone and it's done the same on an android tablet also so it's not isolated to iPhone and it's only been happening since the new router, everything was perfectly fine using the bt smart hub 2
