Broadband dropping out issue
Hi
My wifi connection keeps dropping out with Sky. When I run a status check through sky.com it states everything is fine with the line and area.
After restarting the router the connection comes back but continues to drop out. specifically on zoom and teams calls
I have done a ping test which is showing 20mb, so a different result to the sky status check which shows 70mb.
Any suggestions how i can sort the ongoing issues?
Thansk, 🙂

How is the device that you are using for teams and zoom? Is this via Wi-Fi or wored connection?

Re: Broadband dropping out issue
Hi Highlinder,
I have two different work laptops which i use zoom and teams on and the issue is happening on both which makes me think its the signal/wifi.
Both a wifi and both have worked fine for the last 12months on wifi so really confusing.
Its just getting frustrating on customer calls now. Maybe time for a provider change!
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Broadband dropping out issue
@danf82 Or try using an ethernet cable, and if that is impractical I'd suggest powerline adapters.
The issue isn't with the broadband connection itself, it's the WiFi.
If it's been fine that suggests interference of some kind or overlapping with another network. Changing provider may or may not solve that issue.
Relying on WiFi for work, or anything sensitive to jitter and latency like video calling or gaming is always asking for problems. Just because WiFi has worked well in the past doesn't gaurantee it will in the future.
A cable will work 100% of the time (unless it gets damaged), and will give higher performance/speed 1--% of the time🙂
