Bill Increase almost 50%

Hi

My contract of 18 months ends this month. Was paying £50 for broadband and tv including box sets and HD.

Last bill was £61.50 and next months will be £71.50....huge increase. Understand its because of 12 month permitted increase by Sky but do i have to have/ can i remove Sky Talk Extra which now have to pay £10 for and i dont use housephone. Am calling sky anyway as increase if almost 50% is ludicrous.  Thanks for any advice. Just have briadband superfast and have already had money back as never get minimum 22 download speed as advertised and engineer told me Sky know from postcode when selling products customers will never get speed they say....misselling i think!

@Brixy if your 18 month contract ends this month this is why you revert to standard pricing. Call sky and negotiate.

When your contract ends you revert to paying the standard list price. List prices aren't hidden - they're shown on the website, so needn't be a surprise. There's an annual price increase of around 10% - the most recent being in April.

Increases of the size you mention are indeed the result of your contract ending so yes, give Sky a call to negotiate a further 18 months discount. You can certainly cancel your Sky Talk calls package if it's of no value to you.  Just downgrade to the Pay as you Talk package,  for which there's no monthly subscription.  You just pay for any calls you make.

@Brixy  The increase will be because of any discounts you had have ended, you need to contact sky to discuss and packages etc https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv#contact-leave
