Re: A Positive Review
@Jackalyn - Sky have committed to a mammoth advertising campaign to launch Glass+TV so I can't see them launching a puck-only system until that is over - if they ever do... Spring 2022 at best would be my guess as they are bound to be hammering Glass+TV at Christmas too, given that 99% of punters will be blissfully unaware of the carnage reported in this forum.
However the proverbial is starting to hit the fan over at TrustPilot; but it's astonishing that none of the national or specalist online media has yet published a proper hands-on review. I hope the critics haven't been bought off with promises of advertising money (although, to be fair, there are no positive reviews anywhere either).

Re: A Positive Review
@Q-tipsYes I have wondered about magazine reviews etc, they were all keen to give first looks from the press demonstration but nothing since.
I expect they have not been given freebies to review but I would have expected at least one to have either bought one or to use one of their employees glass for review purposes.
Very strange.

Re: A Positive Review
Yeah am sure you are right. I am surprised that there was literally no movement in the tv package price on offer - i was only attempting to replicate the same as i have now. The argument was that the package no longer ties you up to an 18 month contract. But given it's all new and shiny and people will jump on they can stand to be a little rigid on the price i guess at this early stage.
I only ask about the box only scenario given that germany and italy have a box called SKY Q IP dont they and they might offer that in the future.

Re: A Positive Review
@Jackalyn the European product does not offer UHD or HDR and Glass is planned to launch in Europe in due course.
Sky have said nothing sbout launching the pucks as standalone products.
65inch Sky Glass, 3 Sky Streaming Pucks, Sky Ultrafast + and Sky SR213(white Wifi Max hub) main Wifi from 3 TP-Link Deco M4 units in access point mode

Re: A Positive Review
@Jackalyn - I don't think the Sky European IPTV systems offer 4K but otherwise, yes, Sky have experience of a standalone streaming set-top box. If they do ever launch such a product here, they will not want to do so until they have milked all they can out of the current Glass system. I can't fathom their logic though. They make little or no profit out of selling TVs so why bother?

Re: A Positive Review
Well, I'm still waiting for mine. It was due last Saturday but they were 2 hours late from the time they said and in that time my son who had a cold tested positive on a lateral flow.....so when they were 15 mins away I had to call and ask to leave on doorstep. They refused. Said they cannot do that as although they would, Sky would not let them but if they got authorisation from sky, they could, but delivery for that day would be cancelled. Anyhow, as my wife vulnerable my lad gone to his aunts so I called back, got asked to call back Monday.....6 times I contacted panther yesterday asking to have redelivery for today. Each time I was told the depot hadn't scanned it back in yet from Saturday but as long as done that afternoon it would be ok to book for delivery Tuesday. ......630pm and they finally updated and scanned it.......for me to be told earliest delivery date is now 7th November and the delay is down to the depot being late scanning back in. I told them it's not my problem, I had been told next day would be fine and have in writing from copy of online chat transcript. They would not budge, told me to call Sky. So I did and the lady was understanding and put me through the new escalation team......after over an hour on hold, I finally got through to be told that they can't escalate deliveries and I would need to contact Panther. What an absolute joke. Kind of wish I hadn't told them about the lateral flow test but my conscience would not be clear. So now have another 2 weeks on top of the initial week had to wait. Because of their incompetence in taking 2 days to scan something in, after failing to delivery to their promised time (and not giving any updated times.....I had to call them to find out there had been an issue and delay);. Customer over 18 years and each time made any sort of order they screw it up.

Re: A Positive Review
@Q-tips @that's what I thought, but all of the agents told me it was fine, no quarantine as son not home and both my wife and I negative pcr tests. It's purely because they are incompetent and took the lazy sods 2 ful days to perform a simple scan in. They promised me twice for delivery today then stone walled me.

Re: A Positive Review
Update when I called courier....she apologised saying she was confused as to why it has been booked as STILL not scanned in at depot, and she remembers talking to me yesterday saying once scanned they can book in next day.....so she will speak to the lady who did it and also chasing depot again to hopefully reduce the redelivery window!

I'm not sure what a glazing company has to do with TV's but there you go, some people in their red mist moment don't read where they are posting things 🙂

Re: A Positive Review
Well after the nightmare around delivery....which continued as got out through to sky escalation team, on hold over an hour to be told cannot escalate delivery issues....for courier to turn round after 4 days to say there was issue with barcode and to fob me off saying it was not even on the van for delivery last Saturday - I finally had delivery today. Funny that.
so actual impressions of the TV. I set for the large as had 55" QLED already so upgraded. It's huge, picture is nice quality, very vibrant and the HDR working well with nice blacks. The sound is great so far. I'm going to test a Dolby atmos film tonight, but watching a Netflix film at moment and nice depth to the sound. I had a Bose tv speaker for my old set, and obviously the sky glass Dolby atmos enabled is far superior. Very impressed.
Where I'm not impressed is lack of a USB port. I watch a lot,if things from usb and old set had this. It's not major though, as can plug into PS5 and watch that way. Also the sky glass puck has no audio /line out like the sky Q mini boxes had, so it's absolutely useless in my sons room where the mini box was, as he has a gaming monitor with no built in speakers. So has separate ones. So he can watch it, just can't hear anything!

Re: A Positive Review
@chrisgordon75 You should be able to purchase a HDMI passthru adaptor that provides external audio connections
Take a look on Amazon

Just be careful you get something capable of 4K at 60Hz (if it's a better than HD monitor) as many such devices are only 30Hz. You'd also want HDCP 2.2 passthrough for UHD, or 1.2 (or better) for HD.
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

Re: A Positive Review
Thanks...just not sure how that would work? Speaker system doesn't hook into monitor at all.....sky Q and his ps were connected to monitor via hdmi but then separately to the speakers? I've been in IT 20 years but with this....not much knowledge lol
