A question that kept cropping up, is whether you could 'record' live sport and start watching the recording while the game was still on 'behind time'

So, for example, the Leicester Europa League game this afternoon on BT Sport kicks off at 3.30. If you set to record (or add to Playlist) can you start watching it from the start at, say 4.00?

(If you're not busy or anything 😂

Nice to hear some positivity first thing in the morning!

Can you confirm if Dolby Vision is available with the Disney+ app?

Also, is UHD available with the BBC iPlayer on Glass?

My apologies, disney is "only" hdr.  Not dolby vision.  I wrongly assumed without checking.

Thanks for checking. That's pretty poor. Hopefully they'll get an update to the app to enable it.

Is iPlayer definitely showing the UHD HLG versions of BBC content? It's often not immediately apparent on the iPlayer home page - you have to search for UHD and play the version with UHD marked on the top left of the tile.

All i know is the programme i selected had hdr written in the program icon, and when i played it, hdr showed on my tv set.

Re: A Positive Review

The TV  can play Dolby Vision and Atmos compatible hardware via the HDMI inputs, as I checked out my Fire Stick 4k, where both Disney+ and Netflix showed Vision/Atmos, where applicable.

It's just bad that Sky's own Disney+ app does not play Vision/Atmos, especially where previously stated it would. Hopefully an update to the app will solve this.

however when watching the football last night in UHD on the puck, that was an issue and basically didn't work.  Hopefully sky will remedy this in the future.

Thanks for your insta-review. Please keep us posted on the puck footy problem as that could frighten the natives - especially as your 66Mbps BB speed should not be the cause. A lot of people will be wanting to use the puck with their main TV.

To be honest, uhd footy on my 2nd tv was one of the biggest reasons i decided to go for this, so it is a little disappointing that there are issues.  However i'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and hope sky can do something with the amount of broadband usage a uhd match uses.

Well to start with, i don't have bt sport.  I find them massively overpriced for what you get.  So i can't check that game.  When watching last night, there was the option to start the game from the beginning when it was 80 minutes old.  So hopefully that's what you mean.

So that's using Sky's 'Watch From Start' that was previously only available on Movies and some regular programs. Wonder if that's available on all live sport. Suspect only on Sky's own channels though?

Re: A Positive Review

Were other channels ok on the puck and that it just appeared to be a UHD issue with live football?

Yeah spot on, even hdr movies and that, all fine, apart from the uhd footy.

Re: A Positive Review

I'll add to the positive reviews.

I'm really happy with it. Admittedly I have 500Mpbs but I even think the PQ of the Glass is fine as it is. I haven't tinkered with any settings yet. The puck is up and running in the lounge with my Samsung Q90T 65" and looks superb too - make sure you set the display to UHD in the puck settings.

Is there any way to tell which movies/sport/content is actually being delivered to the screen in UHD?

Re: A Positive Review

Just going to stick my nose in for a general point for anybody concerned about delays. I watch a significant portion of football on SkyGo due to work. One persons 40 second delay might be somebody elses 20 second delay, which might be 70 seconds for somebody else.

There is obviously a standard delay with all internet streaming, compared to satellite broadcast but then there are a million other factors that also add to that.

connection type - wired or wifi

connection speed

connection latency

location

ISP

The device itself

Two recent examples:

Watching BT Sport on an Xbox at home, 1gb VM connection, connected via ethernet. The delay was around 13 seconds.

While at the office, my colleague and I were both in the same room. We both have the same phone. We both started Sky Go up at the same time. Somehow he was 40 seconds ahead of me so I must have been at least a minute behind the actual live broadcast. The only difference was he was EE and I was Vodafone.

I don't know how on the Glass TV, but on the Samsung TV you should see the video and audio formats on screen when pressing the i or info button the TV's remote

That's something it seems to be missing.  It tells you when dolby vision is being played, but not hdr.  Just have to trust it.

Trust nothing from Sky! 🙂 An 'hdr' badge would be useful

Re: A Positive Review

The playlist system looks a mess judging by the reviews I've seen. I'll stick with Sky Q as I like to record programmes.
