2nd tv without mini-box?
Hi all,
Moving to new-build house and have booked Sky Q and broadband installation. My elderly father (90) moving with us, will have his own lounge and tv. as he does now We currently use YouView boxes just for FreeSat on both tv's. He has great difficulty with technology, can't use the remotes except to change channel and volume. I don't think he'd be able to adjust to a new system/channels so wondering if it'll be possible for us to continue to use the YouView box for him off the broadband? I know the house has co-ax and network cabling throughout but I'm not very tech savvy either!
Thanks to anyone that can suggest what we do for my old Dad!

@Ella103 There is no reason why you can't continue with the Youview box as it is not reliant on a satellite signal so regardless of your setup they will still be able to use the Youview box.

Thaks @GD1 One YouView box is currently from a mini-sat dish, the other from an internal digital aerial. Don't really want either at the new house. Would it work off a direct connection to the broadband on the network or off wi-fi?

Re: 2nd tv without mini-box?
@Ella103 If you wish to view normal channels as well then at least one of them would need to have an aerial or sish connection dependent on which one you use, however if you have Sky Q and want to use the Youview box that has a satellite connection then the LNB on the dish needs to be ahybrid type.
It would be easier in this case to use the Youview box that needs an aerial and connect either an indoo or outdoor aerial.

I could not find a YouView box that needs a satellite connection, are you sure that one is not a freesat box as if it is you will definitely need a hybrid LNB otherwise it will not work, so ask Sky for one before the installer comes as they do not always carry one. Also make sure the box still works before he leaves.
The standard YouView box works best with both a Wifi (or Ethernet to router) connection plus a terrestrial aerial.

Re: 2nd tv without mini-box?
My bad @bob1234 I thought the rounded square disc thing outside was a sat. Nope, it's a digi aerial too...! Thanks for info.
