My Fiance has been contacted about a near £700 debt he has with sky, however he is not the one who accrued this debt! The account was made by his stepdad in his name while we were still in sixth form (2021-2022). This was after his stepdad had had his own account suspended due to nonpayment. His stepdad never paid the bill for this new account either and now they are after my partner for the money, any advice on what we can do?
We would like to avoid police involvement if possible as it is still his family but we are both only 21 and we currently live off of his income as I am still finishing university, meaning we do not have the spare money to pay this debt.
