As usual, very easy for them to take the money that doesnt belong to them, yet it so strangely difficult to give it back. MAke sure you cancel your direct debit with them so it never happens again.

This issue with doing this is that overpayments can't then be refunded via it if the direct debit is cancelled so would have to be issued by a cheque which takes much longer to be issued.

I received my cancellation confirmation on the 4th of September and was charged on the 22th. It's more than 2 weeks gap, so I'm sure this can't be explained by bills being issued 2 weeks in advance. How do I make sure I get that refunded?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Viert you have to give notice to cancel- 15 days for broadband, 31 days for everything else. You're liable for charges up to the end of your notice period.

I contacted Sky on the 4th of September to cancel my broadband. I received confirmation the same day and was told by a member of staff that I would only be charged for days I'm using the broadband whatever "usage" means in this case. I was also told that I would receive a returning package within 5 days which only happened in 2 weeks after I contacted Sky again.
I don't really know what "days of usage" means but I believe I can't use the broadband as my hub has already been dispatched back to Sky. Last night I was charged full monthly fee until the end of October

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Viert the bill which you paid last night was produced two weeks ago while you were in your cancellation notice period. That's how Sky billing works.
However, you only pay up to the time your services actually end, which for broadband, is two weeks after you gave notice, so you'll be due a refund for the charges after that.
