What a con
Called to cancel TNT Sports today as the contract I have runs out on 2nd December and I know you have to give 30 days notice to cancel it, and was told that it was correct that my TNT sports contract ends on 2nd Dec and that i need to give 30 days notice, but if I give notice today (3rd Nov) I will be charged £60 early cancellation fee. So basically I cannot cancel until the end of the contract, but than have to give 30 days notice, so i pay for it for a month after the contract ends.
I'm pretty certain this breaches contract law, but whether it does or doesn't, what a con by Sky.

Re: What a con
Hi @flying-haggis I suspect not a con from Sky, just an ignorant advisor. I would try again and hope you get an educated advisor.

Re: What a con
Advisors said that the computer would not allow him to process the cancellation without charging £60.
Not the advisor at fault, it's Sky maximising profits

Re: What a con
Hi @flying-haggis So what happened when you tried again? Did they confirm that you minimum term ends on Dec 2nd?

Re: What a con
It's quite possible the advisor was doing something wrong - it's always worth contacting Sky again either by phone of the live chat option and speaking to a second person.

This is what the ombudsman services are for... Raise a complaint and then escalate the matter there if necessary.
AFAIK giving the correct notice prior to a minimum term ending should not be charged any early cancellation. (Unless the terms for TNT are different)
