I just phoned my current ISP (not Sky) and I tried to negotiate a fixed price deal - they wouldn't budge on their CPI+3.9% escalator so I'm leaving...

Just checked through SKY t&c's 10(c)ii clearly states that "You can end this Contract without incurring early termination charges during your Minimum
Term if:
(i) Condition 6(c), 6(e), 9(b), 10(b) or 10(e) applies;
(ii) we increase your Sky Broadband Payment, unless such increase arises under Condition 5(c);"
5(c) just relates to increases due to law changes ie VAT.
Hope this helps

That's correct, as explained several times in this thread. For clarity, it doesn't apply to Sky tv, though.

I was also told via the Messenger chat service that even after the 30 days, I can still cancel my Sky Broadband without charges. I even put the scenario in of cancelling mid April, and he said that I could still leave without penalty. Either he is wrong, or the 30 days is incorrect.

I guess it's a matter of which you would prefer to rely on: what's stated in black and white in your contract, or what a Sky adviser tells you. Not saying the adviser is wrong, but personally I'd rather rely on what I can see I, agreed to.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreIf by mid April you are not in the minimum term of a contract then you can cancel but if you are then you can only cancel within 30 days of recieving the email to aviod these charges being applied.
. If you’re within your minimum contract period, call us within 30 days of getting this email to avoid early termination charges.

Customers should get their emails or letters by 23 March, so allowing for the "cancel within 30 days", depending on when you receive the notification it's quite feasible that 30 days may cover the middle of April.

I have sky Q only. I can see in the sky app my sub is increasing to £41 per month. However i have not received any written notification of this via post or email. As per terms of contract they must give 31 day's notice. Where do i stand ? Surely they can't enforce the price rise on me since they broke their contract terms and conditions?

It's worth noting that T&C's are different between broadband and television: this thread has largely been related to broadband (and if the increase is related to an end of discount period rather than the annual increase, that's different again).

Every year we see posts stating that the increase notification mail has not been received. Strictly, the contract does say they have to give notice but we don't know whether they did send the mail or not. (Either via e-mail or post)
At best, you may be able to argue that you didn't receive the notification and they could apply a corresponding credit but I'm not aware of anyone avoiding the increase or being able to cancel without penalty.

@blade+the technically sky has until end of tomorrow to issue all remaining notifications based on their own timetable
when is your normal billing date as they are being issued based on billing month rather than calendar month

My billing date is the 1st of each month.
