Few days later sky called offered  a better deal then virgin so I went bk to sky I mentioned about any payments I might have fron virgin ie switching payments he lead me to believe that sky would cover any outstanding amount......I received a final bill from virgin £497.81 which I simply cannot afford

Hi @Gary624   I'm afraid that Sky don't 'cover' the cost, they provide a credit (no cash alternative) that you use up to pay your subscriptions.

You have to pay Virgin and then claim the switching credit. https://www.sky.com/help/articles/switching-credit-offer

You are liable for early termination charges with Virgin.  You have to pay them in the first instance - Sky will not, and cannot, do this.

Sky may cover up to £300 as a credit if you put a successful claim in.

Without knowing what Sky 'promised' it's hard to comment further...

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers
