Swicthing to BT but still in my contract

I'm looking to switch providers to BT, Sky has been terrible, the download speeds are unbearably slow.

I'm still within my 18 month contract, if I switch will I have to pay an early termination fee?

You can only leave your contract penalty free within 30 days of being notified of the increase.

Forthcoming price rises should allow you to exit without penalty.

However, bear in mind that BT uses the same infrastructure as Sky.  (OpenReach)

So moving providers may not resolve the issue.

I am also moving home, at the new address sky offers 500MBits, BT are offering 900.

Can I switch now to BT as part of the home move instead of waiting for a price rise?

Re: Swicthing to BT but still in my contract

While I was on the phone setting up my home move, I got an email with details of my move and a few T&C's. In the contract summary and Information email it says my monthly price is more expansive than my current price. Is this a notification of increase? Its about £7.50 more. It doesn't say there is any activation charges, just the following:

Price:

Sky Broadband Superfast: £35.50 per month

Activation Charge: £0.00
Hardware Charge: £0.00
Delivery Charge: £0.00

The price increase notification is separate.  But ask Sky what your options are right now?
