Sky refusing to talk to me before a direct debit is set up.

I want to pay Sky what I owe them forthwith as EE have agreed to reimburse me. However, Sky won't talk to me until a direct debit is set up. Situation is farcical as Sky box is in a cupboard and I am not using their services!! Please help

Set up a diect debit. The terms and conditions you agreed to when you signed up require you to have a Direct Debit or automated monthly card payment.

We only have half a story here but sounds like your services were restricted due to lack of payment?

 

The box being in a cupboard doesn't absolve you from any contractual period.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Nope. But setting up a direct debit or card payment is a contractual requirement so as it stands, you're in breach of contract regardless of any single payments you wish to make.

To be clear- I'm not disputing any money owed. I want to pay them and forget them.

That is correct, you must have a payment method setup on your account.

If your services are restricted due to 'non-payment' then Sky staff cannot assist via the forum.

 

What's the issue in setting up a continuous payment method to comply with the terms you've agreed?

@SM34 your last post seems to have been gobbled up by the spam filter but to answer it you cannot pay a lump sum on subscription services (only devices plans allow this) hence way you must setup a continuous payment method before being able to speak to sky

  • This is still not making sense. Why would Sky refuse a lump sum to get me off their records??  I am an EE customer!

@SM34 the simple fact of the matter is you need to setup a continuous payment method before being able to speak to sky about the possibility of making a lump sum there's no way round this
