Sky Stream

Hi, I wonder if someone can advise me please?

I have a Sky+ box and every time I call Sky they say we can upgrade you to SkyQ free of charge and now I am fed up with explaining to them that the sky dish is over an extension and the Sky engineer refuses to install, they still insist on sending an enginner and its the same response every time (3 visits in the last 2 years!)

To add fuel to the situation my coaxial to HDMI converter has recently packed in, so now I must run cable the whole length of my lounge up to the tv on the wall! I could replace the converter but I’m looking at £400 as you can’t buy these and do it yourself.

I called Sky and asked if I upgrade my broadband (currently on ADSL) can you switch me over to Sky stream but they keep forcing me down the sky glass root which I don’t want.

I’m still in contract with sky TNT and Sports until Sept 26 otherwise I’d go elsewhere.

There are great deals with sky stream but cos of my existing contracts I can't switch and take advantage so I’m happy to carry on paying £150 a month (it’s ridiculous!) but I just want to stream and do away with a box.

Either I put up with an ugly cable running up my wall until 2026 (when I’m out of contract) or I get Sky to confirm that I can definitely switch to Sky stream once I upgrade my broadband with them otherwise I’ll be stuck in a broadband contract with them until 2027, an ugly cable still running up my wall and the Sky+ box.

Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.

The 'great deals' are for new customers only.

However, there's no reason why you have to go Glass instead of Stream.  Stream has a minimum requirement of 25-30Mbps so ADSL might be ok?

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

ADSL maxes out at around 23Mbps if the exchange is in your front garden so it might struggle with Stream.

I 'm guessing that if you opted to upgrade to Superfast broadband, if it's available in your area, and switch to Stream, Sky wouldn't hold you to your existing contract.

Re: Sky Stream

Thank you for your response. I guess the answer is go to fibre and then ask for stream and hopefully they won't force glass on me 🤞 I'm out of contract with broadband so I could go anywhere but I'm afraid they won't move me to Sky stream if I don't stay with them - It would have been far easier if I wasn't in contract with the tv side of stuff, I could have gone somewhere else and got a better stream deal. Thank you, I will upgrade to fiber on my app now as I know fibre is in the area, Sky have already confirmed that. Thank you once again, Rhion
