Sky Q repair but signed up to cinema without consent by the engineer.

I had my Sky Q mini replaced due to a fault. Going throught the setup I was informed that the box comes with 2 months free movies, after which I should get an email asking if I want to cancel.

However, I have just received an email welcoming me to Sky Cinema and another highlighting that there is a change in my contract.

I'm not happy at all about this, seems a bit fraudulent. And trying to get a hold of someone on the phone is a joke, twice waited 30 mins to be cut off.

@Anonymous As part of the deal it't likley you agreed a minimum term for Sky movies.  This should have been explained to you on the phone at the time.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

I just got told 2 months movies with the new box, "It's just something they're doing"... I was offered the Netflix transfer and said I don't want to do anything that would alter my contract. So he never went through with that.

I had exactly the same thing, sky engineer came out to fix my sky Q box, next minute giving me 2 months free sky cinema, said i would get an email to cancel it, no email and looking on future bills i am being charged, feel this is fraudulant and duping people into this, when i try to call takes me forever to get through! disgusting service from Sky.

@Misty+1

There are a few ways to contact Sky about this including using a messaging service as you can see via the Yes button at the bottom of this page:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv

So select "Yes I still need help" at the bottom of the page as the options will load after about 5 seconds.

Re: Sky Q repair but signed up to cinema without consent by the engineer.

Hello,

Did you manage to resolve this? Upon a new install, I too was told 'You have two month's free Sky Cinema' and 'after two months you'll receive an email allowing you to cancel'. No email received, and now Cinema is showing in my contract. Disingenious in the very least...

Regards,

Laurence

You are going to need to contact Sky about this and you might want to put in a complaint about this:

Re: Sky Q repair but signed up to cinema without consent by the engineer.

I've recently had the same experience with a Sky Q engineer stating there's an offer of free cinema because I was changing to Q and I would be contacted to be asked if I wanted to contribute before it became a chargeable service.

I checked my billing last week only to discover I was being charged. It's taken two online chats, two phone calls and three formal complaints to have it removed and charges refunded.
I'm still waiting on an explanation as to why Sky Q Engineers are misleading customers in their own home. I really feel for older people who end up paying for a service/package they didn't actually want in the first place.
I've always loved Sky's customer service but recently it's gone downhill. One advisor wouldn't put the phone down before he explained that if I rated him less than 10 in the feedback then it would go against his own personal scores.

If you haven't already done so, complete the online complaints form on the Sky website. My first complaint was ignored but then got a swift answer when I sent a second... and third.

I've been told they get commission for every sign up! I was told exactly same thing I even said are you sure i won't have to contact them, he was like no they will contact you!

Re: Sky Q repair but signed up to cinema without consent by the engineer.

I asked the exact same question about them contacting me!! And in a few different ways as I thought it sounded waaaay too easy.
I'm just glad I gave a firm no to the four months free Netflix as he was being very pushy to get me to sign up to that too!!

I also asked customer service if the engineers get commission and they couldn't give me a straight answer.

Re: Sky Q repair but signed up to cinema without consent by the engineer.

Yep happened to me too. Sky engineer. You get 2 months free movies when you get the sky Q, someone will be in touch if you want to keep it on the account after. It's deeply dishonest and disingenuous.
