Sky Multiscreen contract runs past Sky Q contract end date

My Sky Q TV contract ends 2/11/24.

I took out Sky Multiscreen on 15/10/23 for 18 months so ends 15/4/25.

As I understand Sky Multiscreen does not extend the Sky Q contract, so what happens if I don't renew my Sky Q contract on the 2/11/24, would I still just need to pay only the Multiscreen sub (which obviously would be of no use without Sky Q TV) ?

Thanks.

Just to close this down and provide a solution to other people searching, I cancelled my contract and it ends Nov 2, the multiroom taken later did not matter according to Sky and I have nothing further to pay.

It isn't possible to just pay for multiscreen so you will have to continue paying your usual TV contract as well as you can't have multiscreen without a basic TV package.

'Force' because it's a contractual requirement, yes.

You can either pay undiscounted signature or negotiate new term that co-terminates if Sky agree to it.

Either that, or you'll nave to pay an early cancellation charge if they allow you to cancel your Multiscreen subscription early. See the contractual terms and conditions you agreed to when you signed up.

...or indeed cancel the 'in contract' element and incur the charges.  (Depends on how desperate you are to leave)

Re: Sky Multiscreen contract runs past Sky Q contract end date

When I signed up to Multiscreen it did not say it affects the length of my Sky Q contract.

So, the way I see it,  worse case scenario I will have to pay the Multiscreen contract only until that ends.

The contract says otherwise.  You are correct that it did not affect the length of your minimum term (not contract) of your 'Q contract'.

You cannot have a multiscreen subscription without a base TV package.

You cannot cancel your base TV package without also cancelling any dependent subscriptions (such as Multiscreen).

Re: Sky Multiscreen contract runs past Sky Q contract end date

In which case it should say when you sign up to Multiscreen it extends your Sky Q contract also.

Thanks for confirming it doesn't extend the Sky Q contract

Here's the wording from the contract you agreed for Multiscreen (my emphasis):

"To receive device content on your compatible device(s) you will need a Sky Q Multiscreen subscription,
a Sky channel subscription"

It doesn't extend it but you can't cancel it either whilst you have multiscreen 'in contract'.

(I don't like the term 'in contract' - it's actually a minimum term)

Re: Sky Multiscreen contract runs past Sky Q contract end date

Yes that's fine, I will just have Multiscreen with no package - Sky cannot have it both ways.

If taking out Multiscreen extends your normal contract it should say so, and if not then I cannot see how retrospectively they can force you to take out a new TV contract.

You seem to be ignoring what I'm saying.  You can't have multiscreen with no package.

You fundamentally misunderstand how contracts work.  The contract does not have any length.  It only ends when you cancel it.

The 'length' refers to minimum terms where certain contractual obligations arise, primarily discounts and not being able to cancel.

You have only 3 options:

1. Pay full list price for Signature until you can cancel at the end of the multiscreen minimum term

2. Renegotiate a co-termination

3. Cancel and incur early termination charges
