Try logging out of the Sky Go app on your iPad (found via settings) then login with this new Sky ID you have created.

Yep, tried that. Logged in with new details same as on laptop but says subscription doesn't allow me to watch this programme. 

I have sky sports package and as I said it works on my laptop now where it wasn't before

So I tried it through the sky go app itself rather than the sky sports app which I used to do. 

It's all now working. Thanks to both of you guys for the help here!
