Overcharged for many Sky Products

Am going to leave Sky this Summer when my contract expires.  I've been a loyal customer for over 16 years.   Today I found out I am being charged £13 a month more for Sky TV than a new customer and £5 a month more for Cinema than a new customer.  I've been charged £15 a month for multi view (I have two TV's) so £2,700 over 16 years and pay an extra £6 a month for HD.   These costs are not competitive and I am being unfairly charged for loyalty.  I called Sky and they said they cannot charge me the same as a new customer.  So, I will be cancelling all my business with them later in the year and using the far cheaper and better quality streaming services.

Ok, but as you're not a new customer you won't get new customer prices.

You haven't been 'overcharged'.  However, if you do not feel it's value then cancel when you can...

Nothing to do with loyalty. It's harder to attract new customers than it is to keep existing customers so discounts are tailored accordingly. All providers work the same way.

@Surfinglizrd

And you'll find yourself in a similar position when your new customer deal ends in 18/24 months time with whoever you move to.

To be fair OP mentions streaming services where you aren't locked into a contract but prices are rather variable and do tend to creep upwards...

Certainly, as most of the major streaming platforms completely underestimated the cost required to run a streaming service infrastructure and populate it with plenty of content people want to watch which is the reason they tend to make losses rather than any profit.

We are already seeing a change with some streaming services bringing in ad-supported tiers and raising prices in a bid to try and actually make a profit for once.

Thank you for the replies.  Loyalty isn't rewarded. VIP is underwhelming.   I don't accept new customers should pay materially less than someone who has paid for many years.   Skys inability to recognise some of this combined with all the deliberate effort to avoid people making simple downgrades has finally got the better of my patience.  I can easily afford Sky but I'm not prepared to be railroaded for cash any longer because it's easier to employ that model from their perspective.  Thanks again for the thoughts.

Attracting new customers is harder than keeping them - you're a point in case...

...but the departure of many subscribers may make them rethink, but I suspect not.
