Out of contract need to get best price

Hi I am out of contract and looking to see whether to stay with Sky.  I am currently subscribing to pretty much everything with 3 miniboxes on Sky Q, broadband, calls and paying over £190 pcm!

 

I had a look at the new customer pricing and it looks like it's less than £150 for the same services as a new customer and that's just the website price.  Other competing services are available for even a lot less.

 

I also have couple of questions

- Does the cheapest SkyQ Lite package basically mean freesat but with SkyQ recording?

- Does the SkyQ lite only have SD (i.e. not even HD which seems pretty much minimum these days to me)?

- Looking at the website it looks like with Sky Q you always have to pay extra even for HD, but for Skystream it's at least HD as standard, or am I misunderstanding there?

- Is it not  possible to get rolling months for Sky Cinema and Sky Sports if you are a Sky Q customer?  It looks like this is possible with Sky Stream?

First - we're customers here, so it would be best to verify the following with Sky. The best way to discuss a discounted deal is to gove them a call.

Yes.

You would get the Freesat channels such as BBC, ITV, C4 and C5 in HD.

Yes, HD is standard with Sky Stream/Glass

Yes you can get 31 day terms with Sky Cinema and Sky Sports, at higher cost. I'm not sure they're available with Sky Q Lite, though.

Interesting regarding the Sky Cinema and Sky sports rolling contract because if you pretend to be a new customer signing up to Sky Q, it only gives you 18 month contract as an option for Sports and Cinema.  So the best option is to subscribe to the minimum Sky package and then upgarde later on the fly when needed.

 

Also - does "multiscreen" mean that it will feed all 3 of my existing miniboxes?  I will of course call Sky to negotiate - I just want to get some basic information first.

Yes, depending on which main Sky Q box you have. If your current package feeds your 3 Minis, then the multiscreen option will allow you to continue to do so.

Same issue here.

 

Full package + BT Sports + Ultrafast Broadband currently £157.80 with the deals I have, going up to £177 from July.

 

Renewal deal is £163

 

New customer would be £137 with Netflix subscription included.   

 

Tempted to cancel the lot and go to streaming services only.

Did you try calling them and telling them you want to cancel?  You will probably then get put through to retentions and get a better offer.  

 

As a long term customer 17 years, I am not sure I want to stay with Sky enough to pay a renewal price that's more than what new customers are offered.

Not yet.  Renewal deal was only available to view from today, and can't find the live chat option this evening.  Waiting an hour on the phone isn't my idea of a good time.
