Moving to a new property in same development

I'm soon to move from one flat to another in the same development and we have a shared dish. Is it, as I'm hoping!, just as simple as taking my Q box and router to the new property and plugging them in? Or do I need to do anything specific in terms of engineer visit etc. Appreciate I need to update my account details, that's a given, but I'm really hoping I just move everything across and it magically works?!

If the communal dish supports Sky Q, yes.

Thank you - I'm talking to Sky and they are saying no.

I suspect the issue is you appear to be referring to both subscription television and internet connection, and these are absolutely not the same thing.

A Q box might well work simply by reconnecting its cable, but an internet router definitely won't do so: a broadband circuit is specific to an individual dwelling unit, and has a lead time of several weeks for the network maintainer (Openreach in the UK) to reconfigure.

Depending on the communal satellite signal distribution system, it's also possible that the Q television box won't simply transfer from one unit to another: in a mixed Sky+ / Sky Q building each individual unit might require a change to be made for Q compatibility, which is typically carried out by a Sky installer.

Re: Moving to a new property in same development

Thanks all - just spoke to the home move team and apparently I can move the Q box myself (and if it doesn't work get an engineer out) and the Broadband will be switched on the day after I move so all good!
