Make it make sense

I've just rang sky to discuss options as I'm out of contract and it's getting pretty pricey...I've been with Sky for years and have a very full package (UHD, sports, kids, multiroom etc.)

I spoke to a nice lady on the phone who was trying to be incredibly helpful and managed to offer my a discount on my total package of....£12....for context that is around a 5-7% discount off what I pay now being 'out of contract'

If however I price Sky up as a new customer and take the exact same package I save myself around £50 which is roughly a 25% discount, but because I've been a loyal customer to sky for years it would seem I am not valued enough for this?

Is my only option to cancel my sky package in its entirety, send my kit back, then sign up again as a new customer? (I've got half a mind to just cancel and keep freeview!) Has anyone else experienced such lack of loyalty to long standing customers?

@PhilC87  You won't be able to sign up as a new customer until you have been away from sky for at least 18 months

Recent posts indicate thay discounts on renewal are considerably less generous than in the past. It appears that Sky are focusing on recruiting new customers. If you decide to cancel, it will be 2 years before you'll be able to sign up again as a new customer.

Spoiler

It seems their strategy is to target new customers and lift the price that existing customers are paying (compared with the generous discounts of old).  It seems they may lose customers as a result...

If you cancel then all Q hardware has to be returned (you can't keep it for 'freeview')

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers
