No, only that they could offer a saving if I confirmed my details. I asked them to email me the details, he said he wasn't allowed (by Sky) to email the details...
This is what makes me suspicious that just enough confidential customer information has been obtained/hacked/leaked and that it's a scam.
As I've said before, if it isn't a scam Sky has a very strange idea of customer service training, bear in mind my first one of these calls was a month after renewing my contract at a price I was happy with - it's a strange business ethic to then offer to reduce the price - if it was genuine.

I've never know Sky to call out of the blue unless a customer has cancelled recently so the call is certainly a scam imo. It's certainly strange if they had your account details, most likely they were hoping you'd give genuine information which they'd take note of.
The only way to know is to phone Sky & ask if they called you on that date.

I had all the above just now and last week.
if the want to save us money,why not just do it and then tell us by email
and not stress me out with a possible scam .
who reduces your bill when you have a contract anyway.....

Just had a call from this number and so rude. Asked for my name and as I thought a scam I said you must have my name and he said yes I do and repeated my name.
Then asked for my address so I did the same.
Then asked for my password and being honest I don't know it. Then said what's your mother's maiden name and I refused to give it. He then tried to guilt shame how he cannot help me save money then, ummm you rang me and I am still well within in 18m extiornately priced contract.

I've just received an unsolicited call alleging to be from Sky with caller ID showing the number 0800 761 3372; a number that online research suggests could be a legitimate Sky number? The caller was offering a better deal on my Sky TV package. I thought it odd because I've only very recently renewed my contract (for a further 24 months) and so immediately suspected a scam. ...After all, it's illogical for Sky to have agreed a deal only to then call me up offering an even better (cheaper) deal, is it not? I challenged the caller by asking him to confirm the date of my latest renewal. Within seconds he was able to tell me. Wow! ...So I'm thinking there are only two possibilities at play here: Either Sky is trying to bankrupt itself (most unlikely); or Sky has suffered a data breach (leak) that either it doesn't know about or isn't admitting to. Such a breach could be anything from the professional highjacking of the entire of Sky's customer database down to lone rat insider operatives skimming and passing on customer intel on a lesser but still opportunistic level. ...If the caller truly was from Sky then I guess the joke's on me. But I'd rather be safe than sorry every time. ...I understand that when it comes to so-called Customer Service then Sky is rather keen on the use of call centres on the sub continent. But surely to God it wouldn't use the same or similar vehicle for Sales and Marketing, would it? ...Unless, of course, it's trying to bankrupt itself after all.

@fedupdaily this is exactly my thoughts, especially as the callers are usually very rude/aggressive - if it's genuine, it's a strange business model!

I just had a call from this number. The caller har a very strong asian accent. He asked me to confirm my full name. I replied "no, you called me". They immediately hung up!

This number IS BEING spoofed
Just been called by them, didn't question me giving completely the wrong details.
While some calls from this number may be genuine, the call I got certainly wasn't from Sky

Sky keep calling me for some reason. I've been with them over 20 years and they've never phoned me, it's always been me phoning them usually about deals. A few month ago someone claiming to be from sky called about a deal he believed id like and I answered thinking it was someone else who I was expecting a call from and they asked for details like password and wanted 2nd,3rd & 4th characters so I gave them but that was incorrect then last 4 digits of my bank number so I did and that was incorrect then he again asked for password and different characters to pick, I was getting suspicious like he was trying to get my whole password so I said I'm happy with package I've got and he was a bit surprised and saying you don't want a better deal and I said no and hung up. Caller did have a strong Asian accent.

You call us and expect us to hand over our personal security information!? I don't think so.
You only have to look at the news each week to hear about scams, including reputable large corporations being hacked but you think its ok to expect your customers to take a risk because you say so.
No.
If you want people to answer - those that are risk averse - then do as the previous customer reported and use their marketing preferences to notify them that a call will be coming, give a time and the number.
That's customer service. Anything less is bad service.

Firstly you aren’t communicating with Sky by posting on here. This is a customer ➡️ customer discussion forum where we try to help other Sky customers.
Secondly, with any unexpected calls from 'Sky' if the caller asks for your telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which a genuine Sky agent should in my opinion) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. If the caller doesn't challenge it then you know it'll be a scam call.

Companies always want to confirm they are "talking to the account holder" by taking us through security when they have cold called us.. But there is a simple way to avoid them having to ask us for account information.
If they are offering upgrades, alternative services etc. then they should go through with it and then email the account holder for confirmation. Then there would be no need for customers to part with security info during a cold call, because they would have had two methods of verification. ie they rang us on the account holder telephone number, which kind of suggests they are talking to the account holder, doesn't it? Then they email using the email address of the account.
Simple.
