Hard credit search without consent..

So I enquired about a mobile deal, I didnt even consent to it, and I received an email contract summary..I then told the agent ive not even accepted a deal and you sent me a contract summary..he said its just for information purposes. I then said im not interested please dont do anything..rest assured was told nothings confirmed. I get an email to say that my credit score has gone down because sky did 2 hard credit searches against me..all without my consent. Thats a liberty when I gave zero permission..more over I didnt accept any contract for them to carry a search! Fuming.

You need to put in a complaint giving the date and time that you spoke to Sky so if needs be they can listen to what was said to you:

Re: Hard credit search without consent..

Be very careful in making accusations.

Most of the contact is scripted and it's amazing how many people just zone out and miss relevant information when all they want to hear is the price.

There is no such thing as a credit score in the UK, just numbers made up by the various CRAs.

Re: Hard credit search without consent..

They admitted fault as absolutely their calls are recorded. But I too knew what I was asking and saying whilst the agent was following his script. At no point during the course of the conversation I consented or gave permission for them to finalise any kind of deal. It was a really mind boggling error the agent had committed and couldnt retract at the time. No excuse though as under UK gpdr and fca guidance should a search be conducted without ones consent! They will be removing the footprint of my file.

Re: Hard credit search without consent..

Thankyou. I did reach out without hesitation and I was passed pillar to post. But Sky will be removing the footprint as they heard the call between me and agent and clearly stated that I did not at any time give consent or permission for any deal to go ahead. It was purely for enquiry purposes. Agent acted on his own accord...
