Charges despite returning equipment

I have just received an email from sky stating;

 

We're writing to advise that you still owe £158.24 as a result of early termination charges, equipment you have purchased or failed to return when requested.
 
Unfortunately, if we do not receive full payment from you within the next 10 days, we will have to refer your account to a debt collection agency which could lead to legal action being brought against you.
 
It was not an early termination, the contract came to an and after they wanted to put the price up by around three times what I was paying I moved to Virgin Media.
The sky equipment has been returned I have the post office receipt from the return and have checked the tracking which says that it has been delivered.

I will try phoning  tomorrow but if anyone has any advice I would love to hear it.

And you gave the required notice to cancel and when you did this you were not in a contract at the time ?

Yes, I gave the required notice and have all the relevant emails etc. regarding this.

All proper procedures were taken, Sky confirmed that they're were no charges as long as equipment was returned.

All equipment was returned yet I'm still being threatened with bailiffs!

Not happy to say the least!! This has serious consequences with credit reports!!!
