Billing amount changed after moving home

Hi all,

I recently moved my Sky Wifi/broadband contract from my old address to my new address on 8 Dec 2025. I was informed on the phone that my billing amount would remain the same, as it wasn't a break of contract, it was just a moving of address. However, my bill for Jan 26 has almost doubled, seeming to imply I had cancelled one contract and started another, going from £29 a month to £43 from now on. The Jan 26 bill also seems to have a double payment included, which is strange:

"Sky WiFi - 26 days £0.00

Sky Full Fibre 150 - 26 days £36.06

Sky WiFi £0.00

Sky Full Fibre 150 £43.00

Credit for Cancellation of Sky Full Fibre 150 - 27 days -£25.26"

The previous bill (last one for the previous address) also includes this line underneat the Sky Full Fibre 150 £29.00 charge, and the following message below all:

"In-Contract discount:-£3.00
•  Offer end date: 8th December 2025
Broadband Subscription Discounted:-£11.00
•  Offer end date: 8th December 2025"

"Changes to your Sky portfolio

The following subscriptions have been cancelled:

  • Sky Full Fibre 150 on 08/12
  • Sky WiFi on 08/12
  • Sky Pay As You Talk Guiding and Usage Product on 08/12
  • Sky Talk VOIP Rental (VoIP) on 08/12
  • Sky Pay As You Talk (VoIP) on 08/12

The following subscriptions have been added, you will be able to access content immediately or from the start of your next subscription period:

  • Sky Pay As You Talk (VoIP) on 09/12
  • FTTP Service Installation on 09/12
  • Sky Max Hub on 09/12
  • Sky WiFi on 09/12
  • Sky Talk VOIP Rental (VoIP) on 11/12
  • Sky Full Fibre 150 on 09/12
  • Sky Pay As You Talk Guiding and Usage Product on 09/12

Any changes to your payments will be reflected on your next bill."

Can someone tell me whether these extra charges and "change of contract" are legitimate, and whether I have a leg to stand on in terms of getting money back down to the £29 I usually pay and was informed on the phone that I'd continue to pay, and in getting the monthly payments from now on back to the £29 rate as well?

Thanks in advance,

David

I think you might have been misinformed as when you move home you do start a new broadband contract because it has to be cancelled at your old address so you would start a new one at your new property.

Re: Billing amount changed after moving home

This also appears to have happened to me - my bill has doubled - although for December it was more than double. I signed up to a discounted plan originally and after I have moved I appear to be on a premium plan - very dodgy if you ask me.

Typical corporate crooks and greed

Re: Billing amount changed after moving home

Same thing just happened to me. Moved house in December and they have downgraded my service from 67 to 37Mb (they said it was all I could get but openreach tested the line at 70+Mb) and now seem be charging me £43 a month instead of the £30 that I agreed to. To add to the insult the sky app says I could upgrade my new house to 67Mb for £43 per month.
