Hi I'm looking at my direct debit and my bill was paid on the 5th got a message today to say they will try again on 18th

This is normal if you are new to Sky as you will be billed twice in your first month as you can read about here:

 

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/understanding-my-bills

 

After that second bill you will then be billed monthly.
