Bill saying paid in app but direct debit failed

My card recently expired and I forgot to change my details on my account, the direct debit failed as a result but in the app it says it's paid, I'm unsure what to do as I don't want to end up paying a late fee.

Your card plays no part in a direct debit because this is taken directly from your bank account so if the app says it has been paid then it either has been or the process to take it from your account has now started.
