Being chased for equipment return whilst in contract.

Being chased to return broadband equipment when all I did was upgrade my subscription and renewed for 2 years.  Surely this is an error

 

Yet the advice online and AI support all mention charges and credit report damage if I don't return it. 

I assume as I'm in contract I can ignore and bin the return box, anyone have any similar experiences and will sky eventually realise their error.

 

Further info. i don't need a new hub, the existing one is fine and immediately increased service once id clicked on the upgrade buttons. Even if it did, surely they would have sent a new box out first
