My sky + keeps coming up hard drive error I've tried to rest but I still can't watch anything recorded

Even the youngest Sky+ HD boxes are now eight years old, so hard drive failure is increasingly likely.
Sky will want you to move to Sky Q rather than offering replacement hardware: if you don't wish to do this then late model HD boxes are about £30 on eBay.

What kind of reset have you tried? A full System Reset via the Installer Menu may restore normal working for a while but as @TimmyBGood posted, the hard drive is likely on its last legs.

As noted above, Sky will not supply a replacement box - you'll have to source one yourself or upgrade to Q.
