You posted in the Sky+ forum, and the thread title refers to Sky+. My suggestion was on that basis,

If the movie is split in two click on second part and press record on this not first part

Nice try, but the only way that will work is if the first part is well over and done with.

 I think the problem lies in the fact that both halves have exactly the same title, so once recording of part one is done, when the second part plays it thinks it would be recording what has already been done, so ignores it.
