Old Sky TV Box

Hello,

I cancelled my Sky TV Subscription several months ago. What can I do with the old Sky Box? Also, Do I need to contact a specialist to remove the wire that leads to the Sky Dish through the wall?

Many thanks.

The box is yours to do with as you wish. You can remove the cable (and the dish) yourself if you wish.

@ldg123

Perhaps worth noting that a Sky+ / Sky+ HD box without a subscription will function as a basic Freesat receiver for viewing free-to-air channels.  A Sky dish, Sky+ LNB and cabling can also be used with a Freesat recorder, including the new '4K' models (although no Freesat is currently broadcast in UHD)

Re: Old Sky TV Box

If your really done with satellite tv then you can ask most electricians to remove it all. As for the old box the sky/+/hd and first gen Q boxes were owned by consumers. next gen Q boxes are rented and you will need to send them back to sky when you cancel. You'll find this information in your contract.

@ljmm1967 do you have a source for this information as I don't believe it to be correct, no Sky q equipment of any version or age has ever been sold direct to customers to my knowledge

@TimmyBGood do you have any knowledge of this happening?

Early on, some Q Hubs were 'sold'.  Q television boxes never were.

@SKY1992bf You are 100% correct no Q boxes are owned by the customer they are all loaned to the customer by Sky and therefore need to be returned
