How do I dispose of my old Sky box. The engineer would not take it after installing new SkyQ box.

You can send it back to Sky at their expense using the Royal Mail scheme described here:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/recycle-sky-equipment
Alternatively a local authority waste reception centre will typically have a small electronic equipment section.
Late model Sky+ HD boxes have some value on eBay.
Remember to remove any remaining Viewing Cards.
