Transferring old SSID and password to replacement router

In theory I'm thinking this should work, but has anyone done it?

I'm considering upgrading to fibre but the thought of re doing the setup on all of my Alexa switches and lights etc is daunting...

So I thought that if I just changed the SSID and password in the new router to the same as the old...everything should connect....right?

@jetandy yep that should work

I did it a few years ago and had a couple of devices i had to reconnect but the old ssid and password wre easy enough to put back into a coupe of devices

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Sky Q 2 TB (Silver)Box, 2 Mini boxes since June 2016, all connected by wifi
Sky Broadband Hub/SR203, Sky Ultrafast broadband
Ultimate on Demand, Q Experience/UHD, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema
LG 49SJ 810 V UHD TV, Google Pixel 7 Pro mobile

Re: Transferring old SSID and password to replacement router

I have done it with the new sky max hub, only device that didn't connect automatically was my tv but the wps buttons worked to reconnect that

all my 2.4ghz devices ring cameras, printers and Alexa connected straight away or after next power cycle without having to re enter any passwords again
