TCM (UK) closed because its owner, Warner Bros. Discovery, decided to close it, presumably on financial grounds : this was nothing to do with Sky.

They would almost certainly have closed the US channel too, but for an appeal by some of the most prominent Hollywood directors.

I've replied to your other post re the Christmas films. No one is forcing you to watch them or to keep your Sky subscription provided you're out of contract.

Christmas in July is an annual thing for the Movies24 channel

They take it from the US Hallmark channel.

Movies24 is basically a film version of the Mills & Boon books.

If you don't feel sky is worth it, then call and either cancel or see if you can negotiate a price reduction (though if so, it would come with a fixed term)

What are the 10 channels that have closed

From searching the threads here, I can see

  • Ginx
  • Tcm (which may not be included in the 10)
  • Trace Hits
  • Thane (whatever that was?)
  • Rok (nollywood films?)
  • Smithsonian (moved content to paramount plus)

Just as an update:

"Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Paul Thomas Anderson Step In to Save TCM"

Unfortunately this only applies in the USA and doesn't mean a reprieve for the UK channel: that's still closing.

Of course it's possible that Spielberg in particular is contributing financially: he can certainly afford to.

Please remember that Sky only controls or partially controls channels that are owned by Sky or with whom they are in partnership. All other channels are owned and operated by their respective owners.

The likes of ROK and TCM Movies, which closed down recently, are not decisions that Sky were involved in, as Sky doesn't own these channels. The owners decided to close these channels.
