Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreHi I think you'll find that SD has been removed also.
I think you're possibly wrong in blaming the BBC though, as the feed is available to manually tune in on 10847 via astra satellite. It just seems Sky has made the decision to remove it from their planner.
Was this a response to my post at me?
I have just checked and 969 is still working. I am in ROI and on sky q
images might take time to upload.

BBC Two NI HD recently launched on channel 102 in NI, 142 in Ireland and 970 in GB. BBC Two HD (Network version for England and Scotland) closed on channel 347 in Ireland.
Ireland versions of BBC channels do not have Red Button data and are on a different feed to the UK versions that do have Red Button data. So there are duplicates of BBC channels specifically for Ireland.
This may be a cost saving idea for the BBC as possibly they didn't want to keep 4 versions of BBC Two HD (Network and NI versions in UK & Ireland).
So the Ireland version of BBC Two HD on channel 347 closed completely and is no longer broadcasting, but the UK version is on channel 970 in the UK continues. However, the SD version of BBC Two (Network) is available on 969 in the UK and Ireland.
Eventually this will too close as BBC are phasing out BBC SD channels.

@nolte Thanks for that. Could have sworn I'd read that they had removed SD channels at end of 2022

@rscott apologies didn't know that was how it worked. Cheers

BBC are phasing out SD channels and this is to be fully completed by the end of 2024.

Just a reminder for those in Ireland as there seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding.
BBC Two NI HD is now on channel 142 and BBC Two NI SD has moved from channel 142 to channel 844.
(This is HD smart swapped, so one may find the HD version on channel 844 on older Sky boxes)

Thank you for the info...I came here to check also as programmes I had set to record on BBC2HD failed as Channel 347 on Sky Ireland box no longer exists. Just checked and 142 is now BBCNI HD.

sorry I meant channel 142 used to be BBC2NI SD but it's now in HD and I'd always preferred to record/watch in HD is possible.

A great post. I agree 100%.
All the music programmes i had set to record last weekend failed to record due to the unannounced change.
Unfortunatly our concerns and complaint will fall on deaf ears

How was it an "unannounced change"? If you look at Changes to the Sky TV guide - January 2023, you can see all the upcoming changes for the next week that Sky are aware of. Some broadcasters change channels/names/logos without notice. Sky are only informed up to a week or two before any changes. If you are so involved with BBC Two and the BBC, you'd know about the upcoming changes that BBC are doing.
"Unfortunatly our concerns and complaint will fall on deaf ears". What exactly do you want Sky to do? Some other broadcasters don't even mention channel changes.

$ky just communicate where there's a price increase coming. People were entitled to know BBC2 HD being removed from epg.
I remember years ago I got a letter informing me of same when I think E4 was launching with Irish adverts & to reset recordings etc.
An email wouldn't kill them

If Sky were to remove any of their channels, they may well send an email. However, this change is outside their control - the BBC own the slots on the EPG and they decide what's in each slot.
You should be asking the BBC why they didnt' put on screen warnings about the change.

I'm somewhat nervous about suggesting it, but the 'entitlement' of citizens of the Republic of Ireland to receive any British Broadcasting Corporation service is not entirely clear...
There's a wee bit of history involved ; )

Under Good Friday agreement it should be on our version of freeview just like RTE is on freeview in Northern Ireland. $ky pay BBC I gather for carriage although we don't get red button services last number of years. No radio stations either
